Orange County Conservation Corps Green Stormwater Infrastructure Training and Bioretention Design
Olaunu is assisting the Orange County Conservation Corps with providing National Green Infrastructure Certification (NGICP) training consisting of weeklong training cohorts to train Corps members on the proper construction, inspection and maintenance of green stormwater infrastructure systems. Additionally, Olaunu assisted OCCC with the planning, design, and construction oversight of two bioretention systems at the OCCC headquarters.

The Orange County Conservation Corps’ Green Stormwater Infrastructure Training and Demonstration Bioretention Project represents the future of sustainable stormwater management and workforce development. Olaunu is assisting the Orange County Conservation Corps with providing National Green Infrastructure Certification (NGICP) training to OCCC members to prepare them to construct, inspect, and maintain green stormwater infrastructure systems in Orange County, a new service OCCC is offering. As part of the training OCCC members constructed two bioretention systems at the OCCC headquarters with Olaunu providing the design and providing construction oversight. The construction of the bioretention systems was integrated into the NGICP training, serving as a hands-on training laboratory where OCCC Corpsmembers gained real-world experience in construction of green stormwater infrastructure systems.
